Very Quick Post...

Hi Girls!
Just a very quick note to say that I went to the doll show on Saturday, and I took Ruthie. I didn't take many photos, but I have some of when we were there and the stuff I got which I am hoping to get posted this week. I am working on a new hairstyle tutorial for the blog at the moment, so that is why they haven't been posted yet, but I will get that done as soon as I can!

Ruthie's Strawberry Dress

After having the fabric sitting there for ages, this afternoon I finally got round to doing something with it, and here's how it turned out!
I used the Bubble Dress Tutorial from sewadollable.com.
This dress turned out pretty cute, but it was quite frustrating to make! I used the bodice pattern from Melody's Birthday dress (see picture), and the sleeves from a t-shirt pattern, because I wanted it to have long sleeves.
So obviously I didn't have too much trouble with the bodice, given that it was a very simple pattern and I'd made it before, so apart from a few unwanted tucks when setting the sleeves in, it was pretty much fine.
The skirt was definitely the worst bit!

1. I forgot to add 1/4'' to my bodice measurement for the skirt lining, hence why I had to put velcro all down the back, because it was too tight around her bottom (the pictures will explain more).
2. The gathers were really annoying! I hate gathering, especially when I have to make it really poofy so the threads are really tight, and then all they break when you try to pull them out, and you have to pick at them for ages to make it even before you sew, etc.

Now for the photos:

Birthday dress. Notice the similarities?

The sleeves were actually meant to be set straight in, but I think the gathers worked well, no?

The cutest, pouffiest skirt ever!

Dodgy back closure :(
The funny velcro arrangement I came up with to make it work.

And all the time I was taking photos, the cat was looking at me like this.
Aka: What are you doing near my playground???
Me: Well, it is my house, in case you hadn't noticed.

I thought the lining would make the dress to tight for her to sit comfortably in, but I was wrong! She can actually sit quite nicely, provided that I remember to put undies on her next time (I was in such a rush to get the photos done that they aren't very good quality, and I had to get a funny angle for this one so that you couldn't tell that she'd forgotten her underwear!)
Overall, the dress turned out super cute, and I would definitely recommend you try out the tutorial yourself. Only, please don't make the same mistake on the skirt lining that I did! It was so annoying, and I wouldn't want it to happen to anyone else!

The Doll's Christmas-A Photo Story

I did this photo-story ages ago, but hadn't posted it yet due to lack of time. Sorry the photos aren't very good, it was taken the day I got my camera, and I still hadn't figured out how to use it properly yet.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!

I can't believe Christmas is finally here! I've waited for so long to open that present.
I know, I can't wait to see what we've got!

Come on, open up!

Look, Melody, I got some new underwear! Isn't it pretty?

It is Jenny, and look what I got.

She's so cute!

I'm so excited, I think I'll name her Rosie.

She's really cute, Melody. I love her stripy onesie and her bunny hat!

Isn't she just?

It's a girl thing, when you get a new doll, you always have to take her clothes off to see what she looks like underneath, lol!

Isn't she adorable?

I'm so happy with her!
We hope you had a good Christmas, everyone!

Jenny & Melody xoxo

Rosie was purchased for 6 dollars at K-mart, and Jenny's underwear was sewn by me.

Meet my new girl!

Hi peeps.
I'm guessing the news that I got a new doll has leaked out by now, but thats okay. Because……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………...

SHE IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't have time to edit the photos, because I wanted to get them posted asap, but I'll try and adjust them at some stage and re-load them on to here.

Yes, I got Ruthie. She was second-hand off eBay, for $130 dollars including postage. She came with her original dress, but it needs ironing, so I put her in a dress I made her for the photos.

Ruthie is so pretty, and I'm so happy with her! You'll definitely be seeing more of her soon.

She borrowed Melody's shoes and socks for the photo. As you can see, the shoes are a little big, but they still fit well enough.

Hope you enjoyed seeing her!

A couple of old photos of Melody

Hi there!
From the title, I'm guessing you already know what this one is about, but in case you don't, I thought I'd just post a couple of cute pics I took of Melody ages ago, but forgot to post.
They were actually both taken on my bed when I was just experimenting with different angles, so they were really only practice photos. But considering they turned out quite well, I thought they were worth editing and posting for you. Enjoy!

I Never Did Post This, Did I?

Hi there!
Long time, no blog. Yes, I know, and I'm trying to improve that.
Here's a photo shoot that I did with Melody back in summer. It was up on the oval behind our house, and she's sitting in an oak tree. I'm going to make videos of all of her photo-shoots sometime, but I'll need to figure out how to make the video uploader work properly before I do that. Enjoy!

A Photo-Shoot with Cara

Hi everyone!
Quite a while ago, I did a photo-shoot with Liesl's doll, Cara. Here are the pictures:

This one's probably my favourite. I love her sweet round face :)

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Love,
Note: In case you're wondering, I will now be water-marking the photos that I took myself, on mine and Melody's blogs. If you would like to use them, please feel free, but I'd really appreciate if you'd ask first. Thank you!
Naturally, pinning them on Pinterest and the like doesn't count, because there will be a link to the source on the pin anyway.

Cara's Birthday!

Hi everyone!
On the 14th of March, Cara celebrated her 10th birthday! Here's a photo-story. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Cara!
Yay!

I wonder what it is?

Thanks Melly!

You're welcome, Cara! Come on, open it up!

Yay! New clothes! I'll go and try them on…

A few minutes later...

They fit perfectly! Thanks a heap, Melsy!
You're welcome Cara, I'm glad you liked them.

Doesn't Cara just look so much like Josefina in this one?

Mum and I made the outfit with the pattern for Josefina's camisa and skirt from AG playthings.

I didn't have the right materials, so did a variation instead.

The camisa is made from pale blue batiste trimmed with rainbow lace and bound with bright orange lawn bias binding.
The skirt is made of blue printed wintella. The design has white birds on branches with leaves etc. on a blue background. The skirt is gathered on to a waistband/sash, which ties at the back, then hemmed.

If you want a more detailed post on this outfit, please let me know.

Love,
